Looking for a sweet treat? Morelia recently opened in the UES, and I was skeptical of something that could be a gimmicky chain. Morelia serves gourmet paletas that are customizable, and I didn’t think something with nearly 20 locations could also be gourmet. But I was pleased to discover that these pops are tops.

The process is simple: pick it, dip it, top it. Start by choosing your paleta from a case of about 20 flavors. There are sorbet versions as well as some unique filled options. Then dip in chocolate or cookie butter, roll in toppings, and add a drizzle. The combos are endless.

Finn and I split one and he chose it all (quite well, I might add): passion fruit paleta that was filled with condensed milk, dipped in white chocolate, covered in rainbow sprinkles, and drizzled with pistachio cream. It was delicious!I loved seeing the variety of everyone’s creations. Allison got a Greek yogurt and berry paleta, didn’t dip at all, and let her toppings (graham crackers I think?) adhere just to her drizzle. Brooks got mint chip dipped in dark chocolate, and topped one side with crushed Oreos and the other with chocolate sprinkles. We were there on a Friday night and were far from the only ones bringing their kids for an end of the week treat. And I can see why – chain or not, these treats are tasty.
